Learning from developing countries' students
In my opinion, many foreign students have high consciousness as compared to Japanese students.
A few months ago, I participated with a group in a program and had a chance to visit some Southeast Asian countries, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The purpose of this program was to provide a chance to interact closely with Southeast Asia: its people, cultures and current issues. In that program where I visited the local college and talk with their students, I was surprised to know that they have strong dreams or beliefs despite them being big or small. One of the students would like to work at “SONY”, another wants to be counselor, no one answers that he does not know what he wants to do. Each of them has a strong view and consciousness that we do not have in Japan. Looking at their school life, everyone seems so sensible, it’s unlike us, Japanese students, who tend to run away from the professor.
Though Southeast Asia is developing countries there are still a lot of things that we can learn from their students.
